SARAH GREEN
GREEN WARE POTTERY
|
Sarah Green of Green Ware Pottery creates functional stoneware pieces featuring sgraffito, a traditional carving method. After throwing and trimming pieces on the wheel, they are painted with underglaze and carved, revealing unique speckled designs. She also experiments with painting original images using underglaze and newsprint to create one-of-a-kind transfers. Sarah is constantly inspired by the world around her and loves when her pieces become part of peoples’ homes and daily routines. Sarah began making pottery in elementary school and has followed her love of clay by taking classes in middle and high school, and into college at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa. When she moved to Jacksonville, Sarah created her own studio out of her home. She currently works as a fourth-grade math teacher, but you can find her in her studio most evenings.
