I have loved clay since my first contact in a high school pottery class. That began a lifelong desire to make pottery. Exploring the myriad processes of creating in clay never gets old for me, as there is always something new to learn.
The last nine months have been a difficult season for me.I have been away from my home and studio for extended periods to help my family in Oklahoma. Being back home and able to make pottery again is such a blessing! My new motto for life is: Faith, Family, Friends, and CLAY! Much of my new work is embellished with words of faith, inspiration, and encouragement. I love nature themes and the use of texture in my designs. Many textures are formed using my own handmade stamps and rollers. I am using a very small kiln right now, so I am making a lot of small pieces, including succulent planters, trinket trays and bowls, Christmas ornaments, and magnets. Bigger isn't always better! My angels will be back, with new colors and patterns in the design. I have new work in progress, which will be shown for the first time at the Orlando Pottery Festival. I hope my clay creations will bring a smile to your face and a lift to your soul! Nell Balogh |
