I have always wanted to be an artist. As a child my favorite thing in the world was making art with my mom. My dad was the owner of a small furniture store and my mom was a commercial painter—it is my dad who has always inspired me to start my own small business, and it is my mom who has always inspired me to make.
I grew up in the small town of Dade City, Florida, and currently live in neighboring Zephyrhills. I discovered clay in 2015 during my senior year at the University of Florida when signed up for a leisure pottery course on a whim. By the time I graduated, I was hooked on clay. I went on to apprentice for master potter Jack Boyle in San Antonio, Florida, and still currently assist in his studio as a glazemaker and a teacher. My work draws inspiration from my love of colors, patterns, and botanicals. I make all my ware on a wheel, hand-make all my glazes, and fire everything in my small kiln. I sell my work online and at markets under the name Blumme Pottery, and when I am not at my wheel I am most likely playing tennis, reading, or spending time with my husband, family, and friends. - Amanda Pitts Follow Blumme Pottery on Instagram: @blummepottery |
