My name is Christen Cassady Carmen and I am the owner of Cassady Ceramics in Merritt Island, Florida.
I first fell in love with clay in high school and my dad got me my first pottery wheel before I went to college. He use to joke about driving me around in a VW bus while I sold ceramics out of the back. He passed away in 2008, so my business is dedicated to him. I never really used the wheel he got me until after college. In college, I only took one ceramics class while my degree was in photography and printmaking. I graduated from the University of Montevallo in 2005. I continued to take a few classes after I moved to Florida. I got married in 2013 and had my daughter in 2014 and my son in 2015. My husband recognized I was missing something and bought me a new wheel for Christmas in 2017. Pottery became my therapy! I would go out to the garage for 1-2 hours after the kids were asleep and listen to music and play with clay. I started doing markets in 2018 and fell in love all over again. I love meeting the people who stop by to chat or purchase my work. I mainly create functional pieces like mugs, bowls and planters but I'm open to learning all there is. I love color and try to use a lot of it in my work. Christen Carmen Cassady Ceramics Follow Cassady Ceramics on Instagram: @cassady_ceramics |
