Zulema found clay during a challenging time in her life. Sitting down at the wheel felt like coming home. What started off as a hobby quickly became a passion. Thanks to supportive and enthusiastic teachers, Zulema was able to deepen her knowledge of various firing methods and found a love for atmospheric firings including raku and wood firings. She plays with different forms, from drums and whistles to smudging/incense bowls. She often alters her wheel-thrown pieces to include organic lines to help bring movement and flow to her work. She is dedicated to continuing her education in the world of ceramics and expanding her skill set and form aesthetic.
