During my first pottery class in high school, clay became my favorite medium, and I continued pottery classes through high school and college. I was away from clay for years after graduation, but when we moved to Sanford I started pottery classes at Seminole Community College. I decided to buy a kiln and began working from my home studio, selling my pottery at art and craft shows throughout the Southeast.
Fourteen years ago I began a career as a school bus driver for Seminole County Public Schools. I no longer traveled doing shows, but working in clay continued to be one of the loves of my life! I am currently working primarily with terra cotta clay. I love the warm red earth color of the clay and it is well suited for the garden related items I enjoy making. I also use a multi-layer stain process that highlights the textures in clay.
UPDATE: I am newly retired from SCPS, and excited to have the time to focus on creating new work. Come and see what a happy mind and spirit can create!
