Ja, Glede (Norwegian translation: “Yes, Joy”)
Most of my ceramic forms develop on the pottery wheel and finish only after I’ve pushed and stretched and hand-modeled the surface to create organic curves and bumps and valleys that may appear to be human features or suggest other familiar imagery. Each pot extends an invitation to be touched, for lines to be felt, for changes in the surface to evoke a visceral response. I frequently use little or no glaze and prefer a limited color palette to emphasize the surface variations. It is my intent that as a vessel is viewed from different angles or in different light, the impressions that emerge shift. Each piece is unique. I thrive on the serendipity offered by the earth and fire that I bring together. It is my goal to have created something that will entice your hands to touch and your eyes to behold. *** I am delighted to be returning to the Orlando Pottery Festival this spring. This year in addition to my favorite black clay creations, I’ll have some wood-fired deliciousness, some pops of color, and perhaps a few surprises! Hope to see you there!
