Donna Rupe is a local artist who has been exploring the many facets of clay for the past 15 years. She was initially introduced to clay when she attended art classes at a local college and pursued her studies in this medium by attending workshops by well-known clay artists from all over the United States. Her art is strongly influenced by various elements of nature and by the human experience. They are an eclectic mixture of sculpture, wheel thrown, and hand-built pieces. She has collaborated with other artists in creating unique sculptures, but primarily works solely in her Orlando studio.
She won first place in the division of Ceramics at the Lake Mary Heathrow Festival of the Arts in 2007. Her artworks have been sold in the DeLand Museum of Art store, Gilmer Arts Gallery (Ellijay, GA), specialty stores, small business fairs, local art festivals, and through private commissions.
